TRY on the News

TRYers have been all over the local news lately! For those who have missed them, here they are.

Relay for life night. That is Bella in the first and Annette's now world famous legs in the second.

(Malinda's friend) Angela Harris fundraiser -

News 10 Now. That's right, the back of Terry's, Kristen's, and Catherine's heads!

Channel 9 News. Malinda playing with Draven.

And of course, the classic shot that caught me walking at the mountain goat. (I hadn't done a screen capture before and felt that it had to be done. I'm hoping my shame will inspire me.)

What is our run going to be? Who knows. It might storm, so remember the rules. We will run in the rain, but not during a storm. You can text my phone around 5 if you want to know an official judgement.

We'll do something like a 4 to 5 mile run. With some sort of intervals. We'll discuss it as a group right before the run.

Also -- don't forget to respond to the reader poll on the right. (The first new poll in months!)

June 16th

Is it really mid-June already? Time flies when you are not having fun, I guess!

One week until the Corporate Challenge, so for anyone who doesn't know, there is no TRY next week since the Corporate Challenge takes over our playground.

There has been some debate over our start time. As a reminder, we start at 5:30 since that is a time that worked for the most people when polled last year. (Then we do about a 5 minute courtesy delay for people that are slightly behind. So, our goal is to start running by 5:35.) Plan accordingly so that no one has to get ruffled by either waiting too long or not waiting long enough.

This week is a 4-5 mile run with 1/2 mile intervals. Similar to what Mark led up two weeks ago.

Whatever the Weather

A catchy little diddy I learned from a cartoon a few years back:

Whether the weather is cold,
or whether the weather is hot,
we'll weather the weather,
whatever the weather,
whether we like it or not.

Chance of storms today, so use your judgement. We'll do a group run in rain, but not in a thunderstorm. If you want to check because you aren't sure, you can text me after 5 at 315.440.0397.

Allow me to complain about San Diego weather while I'm at this today -- at no point in the last 3 weeks did the temperature in San Diego approach what we are having today. So, once again I'm going to whine about the weather in San Diego. You would think that in late May to early June you would get some beach weather out there. But I didn't. And you don't. It really isn't as nice there as I would picture it. So, it's nice to be back and get some summery weather in my life.

The run --
1/4 mile intervals? I have no idea how many people have been showing up the last 3 weeks and how many people have been doing the intervals, but I do know that 1/2 milers were scheduled for last week, so instead of going any longer, I'll revert back to 1/4 milers for this week. (I've been sick and not running lately, so I myself will probably just do a slow and steady 4-5 miler depending on who else makes it out today.)

Only 2 weeks until the corporate challenge! (I'm in trouble -- the travel killed my running and now I only have 2 weeks to attempt to salvage my running pace. Not a wise move on my part!)

6/2

Quick post about the game plan for tonight. For those of you doing speed-work, we'll do 1/2 mi intervals as follows:
  • 1/2 mi warm-up
  • 4 - 1/2 mi intervals (1/2 fast, 1/2 recovery)
  • 1/2 mi cool-down.

That adds up to a total of 5 miles. Sorry for the brevity of this post...busy day. Anyway, hope to see everybody there.
